Creating a Product Record

Creating a product record is a straightforward process. Follow these detailed steps:

  1. Insert Basic Information:

    • Product Number and Name: Enter a unique product number and a descriptive name for the product.

    • Category Selection:

      • Choose an appropriate category for the product from the drop-down combobox.

      • If the required category does not exist, right-click the combobox to open the settings dialog. This dialog allows you to:

        • Add new categories.

        • Edit or delete existing categories.

        • productsettings

  1. Customize Product Types:

    • Product types can also be tailored to fit specific needs. Right-click the product type combobox to access a settings dialog, where you can:

      • Add custom product types.

      • Modify or remove previously defined types.

  2. Set Product Pricing and Taxes:

    • Price Entry:

      • Input the base price for the product. This will be used to calculate tax-inclusive pricing.

    • Tax Type Selection:

      • Use the Tax Type combobox to select a predefined tax type applicable to the product.

      • For additional customization:

        • Right-click the Tax Type combobox to open a settings dialog for managing tax types and values.

        • Define new tax types (e.g., VAT, GST) and assign percentages to them.

      • Important: Tax types must be created before assigning tax values. Ensure the tax value is entered as a percentage.

    • Price Calculation:

      • The system automatically calculates pre- and post-tax prices based on the selected tax type.

      • Use the arrow buttons in the pricing section to force recalculations for accuracy.

    • Additional Features:

      • Input sales prices directly, which can differ from the base price.

  3. Add Descriptions and Media:

    • Include a detailed description of the product to provide additional context.

    • Upload images or other media files (e.g., technical diagrams, brochures) to enhance the product record.

Managing Product Properties

The properties section provides advanced tools for managing and customizing product attributes. Here are the key components:

  1. Custom Properties:

    • The Properties Table (on the left) allows you to define and manage specific characteristics of the product. Examples include:

      • Quantity

      • Dimensions (e.g., size, weight)

      • Warehouse-specific attributes (e.g., storage temperature, shelf location)

    • Use this feature to track essential details that go beyond the default fields.

  2. Sub-Product Association:

    • The Sub-Products Table enables you to associate related items with the main product. For instance:

      • A CPU can be linked to compatible motherboards.

      • Accessories or spare parts can be added as sub-products.

    • This association ensures that related items are easily accessible when viewing or managing the main product.

  3. Product-Specific Documents:

    • Use the Documents Table to attach files relevant to the product, such as:

      • Product images

      • User manuals (PDFs)

      • Warranty information

    • This ensures all necessary documentation is stored alongside the product record for quick reference.
